heartprints is a community driven non-profit organization that makes impact locally and globally through their projects, initiatives, strategic alliances, and partnerships. Our energy is focused on getting involved and closing the gaps in Cincinnati area, and also internationally in Honduras (La Ceiba), Central African Republic, and Ghana (Accra). By connecting with schools, shelters, youth, families, parents, churches, teachers, and other community driven organizations and leaders, we strive to make impact through our mentoring, jobs, and outreach focus areas.
Our efforts started through volunteering to mentor and tutor youth in shelters and schools. Once a child was mentored, we realized a pattern of that individual and their family requiring other resources needed to live a happy, healthy, and successful life. Basic needs such as food, water, clothing, shelter, jobs, educational supplies, health products, and more all too often were needed. We discovered the need to get involved while helping youth improve their grades, thoughts on higher education, job planning, and life coaching by helping integrate our efforts with other resources as well. Can you believe that there are kids, mothers, and families that cannot afford food for the whole week, have clean water, or even necessary school supplies or uniforms? This is not just with the international schools, shelters, people, and others we assist, but locally, right here in the Cincinnati and surrounding areas! This is unacceptable.
No child should go hungry or not be able to think about higher education because they have a headache due to lack of nutrition, are sick because they don’t have a jacket in the cold, or alienated because they don’t have simple health products. We could not merely mentor and leave. We sought to close the gaps between not only leadership and development assistance with our mentoring, but to assist in providing support for basic needs and opportunities that all children, families, and people deserve. One may feel it’s just a pen, paper, coat, ticket to see the museum or zoo, or food for a week, but we view it as an opportunity to make a difference, get involved, and make impact!
The way we do this is through our heartprints project, where we mentor and tutor youth to improve education, leadership, and opportunities, as well as provide support through donated items such as food, water, clothing, educational supplies, and health products. A brand we created and lead to assist with job guidance, information, leads, and related opportunities to improve knowledge economy is CincyJobSpace. To further amplify our outreach to improve impact and outcomes are through our strategic partnerships with Crimson Outreach and also the Think!! Campaign. This allows us to utilize the Think!! Campaign’s mutual efforts related to youth mentoring, leadership, and improving lives as we discovered 35% of the males that were clients of the shelters we work with will see prison time once or more in their lifetime. We seek to make that 0%, but realistically drive participation with our efforts to lower than 15% by getting involved.
Leveraging the prison mentoring they lead, and cross over to inspiring youth to make better decisions and be aware of the consequences of their actions made sense for us to create a partnership to eliminate vicious cycles, and thus improve our society. Also, the work Crimson Outreach performs and relationships they established in the Honduras and also throughout North America created an opportunity to ally for impact through our “Coffee With A Cause!” initiative. This inspired us to model similar alliances for our local and global outreach. We discovered that mentoring inspired getting involved beyond tutoring, but opened doors to making impact through opportunities, supplies, jobs, leadership, and related outreach. This is why we established the mentoring, jobs, and outreach focus areas, as they fit to collaborate for the most impact, and fit well due to the cross over effects of our community driven initiatives and these initiatives.
